Exciting 12-month contract opportunity with the Federal Government
Based in Darwin, contributing to critical national projects
Must be an Australian citizen with an active Baseline security clearance, or the ability to obtain one
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer on behalf of a Federal Government client to design, secure, and optimise a complex, multi-site enterprise network that supports critical national operations.
In this senior technical role, you will lead network architecture enhancements, implement strengthened security controls, optimise performance, and troubleshoot complex issues across LAN/WAN environments. This is an ideal opportunity for engineers who thrive in secure, mission-critical environments and enjoy delivering high-impact, hands-on technical solutions.
What You'll Do
Design, implement and maintain enterprise network infrastructure
Deliver network security uplift across distributed, high-security environments
Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, routers, switches and associated technologies
Monitor network performance, resolve issues and enhance resilience
Produce professional architecture documentation and as-built records
Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders across multiple sites
What We're Looking For
Strong experience across WAN/LAN, MPLS/VPLS, SD-WAN, VRFs, VLANs, VPNs
Deep knowledge of BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP and related protocols
Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation and network security tools
Industry certs (CCIE/CCNP/CCNA or equivalent)
Strong Cisco skills (FTD, routers, switches, ISE, DNAC)
Excellent communication and technical writing skills
Nice to Have
Architecture review and security gap analysis experience
Exposure to OT environments (SCADA, DCS, PLC)
Experience conducting network security risk assessments
