We're seeking a reliable, customer-focused individual for a casual, in-person debt collection role in the Darwin area. This must be filled as casual employment (due to insurance requirements – no contractor option).
About the Role
You'll receive a fortnightly or monthly list of customers with pre-planned, efficient driving routes optimised for the most logical order. Your job is to visit these customers in person, support them in getting payments back on track through empathetic and practical discussions, assist with any barriers (like digital payments), and ensure full compliance with Australian consumer laws and our Australian Credit Licence requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Travel to assigned customers using the provided efficient routes to discuss overdue accounts
* Help customers who struggle with digital payment methods (e.g., guiding setup of direct debits or explaining online options)
* Negotiate and establish suitable payment arrangements or repayment plans
* Follow up on arrangements to support ongoing success
* Occasionally assist with authorised asset repossession processes (with full training, supervision, and strict legal compliance – this is occasional, not the main focus)
Hours & Pay
* Casual and flexible – usually 1-5 hours per month, but some months there may be no work available depending on customer assignments
* Available shifts: Any time between 7am–6pm Monday to Friday and 9am–6pm Saturday (pick times that work for you within these windows)
* $40 per hour flat rate – above award wage
* Vehicle allowance – reimbursed at the current ATO-approved cents per kilometre rate of 88 cents per km for all work-related travel (covers fuel, maintenance, depreciation, etc.; We will advise now many km are allotted for the required visits when you are sent work. No requirement to monitor yourself)
What We're Looking For
* Excellent communication skills – able to build rapport, listen with empathy, and conduct sensitive conversations with patience and firmness as needed
* Confident working independently in the field
* Current Australian driver's licence and your own reliable, insured vehicle (License and insurance proof required)
* Professional, organised, punctual, and resilient
* Experience in customer service, field work, sales, collections, or similar is a plus but not required – full training provided on our processes, compliance, and best practices
* Willing to complete a police check
* No Debt Collector's Licence required for this role, as employees collecting our own debts under our Australian Credit Licence are covered accordingly
This flexible casual position is ideal for someone in who enjoys face-to-face problem-solving, genuinely helping people resolve financial challenges, with routes pre-planned and fair vehicle reimbursement. Note that hours are variable and not guaranteed every week.
If you're reliable, professional, and interested in casual field work with above-award pay and vehicle support, apply today!
