We are seeking a results-driven leader to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our busy transport department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the transport fleet and assets across the business, working closely with our regional depots providing support where needed to ensure the smooth running of our transport division. This is a hands-on role, where you will be accountable for the utilisation efficiency, and overall performance of our statewide transport operation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the daily workflow across the depots, ensuring asset optimisation and the highest standards of service delivery without compromising safety or client satisfaction.
* Oversee the receiving/dispatch, loading/unloading, and consolidation of freight in the depot.
* Communicate effectively with clients regarding freight and driver movements.
* Lead Main Roads and compliance audits
* Oversee the driver onboarding process and ensure all compliance requirement are met
* Participate in a rotational on-call roster for weekend and after-hours issues.
* Oversee driver scheduling and workflow allocation using the company's transport schedule and management systems.
* Ensure drivers have accurate, clear, and concise information for their journeys.
* Liaise with subcontractors as required.
* Communicate effectively with other depots to maximize fleet utilization.
* Maintain a strong focus on safety, compliance, and internal reporting.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum of 10 years in a transport management role.
* Understanding of specialised transport fleet and their operations and utilisation
* Demonstrated ability to optimise fleet utilisation and reduce operational costs without compromising safety or service quality
* Strong working knowledge of Main Roads WA compliance requirements, load restraint and dimension regulations, fatigue management and CoR obligations
* Proficiency with digital systems and strong computer literacy.
* Knowledge of oversize transport, specialised wheeled machinery, heavy haulage routes, and MRWA permits is highly regarded.
* Superior leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
* Current C class license (HR-MC preferred)
