About the Role This Principal Data Architect role is a senior leadership position within a major digital transformation program, responsible for shaping and delivering enterprise-grade data solutions that underpin a new flagship digital platform. The role plays a pivotal part in modernising legacy environments, enabling system decommissioning, and ensuring data integrity across complex transitions. Acting as the authoritative voice on data architecture and engineering, you will work closely with program leaders, product teams, engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions align with strategic objectives and are fit for long-term operational use. The position also carries responsibility for mentoring and guiding junior data resources within a multi-stream delivery environment. Position: Principal Data Architect – $1,165/day super Location: Parramatta Working Arrangement: 2/3 days WFH Start Date: ASAP End Date: 12 months from start date Working Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week Positions Available: 3 Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end design, development, and documentation of data architectures, models, and platform data services from concept through to production Define and implement scalable data solutions supporting CRM, BPM, and cloud-based platforms Oversee data integration, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions to ensure performance, quality, and reliability Provide expert guidance on data governance, ensuring compliance with architectural standards, policies, and regulatory requirements Partner with enterprise and agency data leads to align data practices across programs Act as the primary data subject matter expert for delivery teams, senior stakeholders, and executives Communicate complex architectural decisions, trade-offs, and technical direction in clear, non-technical terms when required Manage and support data migration activities, including legacy system transition and decommissioning planning Ensure data readiness for go-live through testing, validation, and release coordination Contribute to the design and establishment of hypercare and long-term data support models Provide leadership, mentoring, and workload oversight for junior data engineers and architects Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in data processes, tooling, and delivery practices About You Extensive experience in data architecture and data engineering within large, complex environments Strong expertise in data modelling, database design, ETL frameworks, and enterprise data platforms Proven experience delivering large-scale data migrations, including transitions from legacy systems to modern cloud-based solutions Demonstrated ability to lead multiple workstreams and manage competing priorities in a program delivery context Experience working with, or the ability to quickly adapt to, government or highly regulated environments and standards Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams Leadership capability with experience mentoring or managing junior data professionals Highly outcome-focused, with the ability to work autonomously while maintaining high standards of quality and pace Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Engineering or a related discipline are desirable Current National Police Check (or willingness to undergo prior to commencement) Full working rights in Australia – Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid long-term working visa (sponsorship unavailable) Applicants are kindly asked to upload their tickets at www.charterdiligence.com.au/portal Application Process Important: Due to the high volume of applications and the limited submission timeframe, we may not be able to contact all applicants.
