The Role
Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Strategy and Analytics, as the Gas Portfolio Optimisation Manager for gas tolling, aggregation and GPG supply, you will play a critical role in overseeing and optimising the operational activities related to the market and commercial aspects of energy projects, including firming generation. This role can be based in any of SQE's East Coast Offices.
You will work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure the successful execution of projects, maximise revenue, and drive the growth of SQE’s gas position in the market.
Key responsibilities:
* Support the Gas Portfolio development and refinement by providing insights from a deep knowledge of market dynamics. Undertake all associated analysis to ensure the optimal outcome is achieved for SQE taking into consideration the risk dimension of portfolio positions and the volatility of the market.
* Assist the Director Portfolio Optimisation in achieving an overall optimised outcome across the electricity and gas portfolios.
* Working with the Head of Gas, develop and implement strategic plans for gas market operations, aligning them with the company's overall renewable energy objectives, including storage and firming generation.
* Provide analysis and insights to the Head of Gas Portfolio to assist in the execution of pricing strategies, contracts, and commercial agreements to maximise revenue gas position
* Ongoingly refine the gas portfolio (and support for electricity portfolio) design to reflect market changes, SQE’s market position and gas customer portfolio growth.
* Design, develop and maintain the Pricing Methodology to support the determination of pricing for customer offerings. Ensure feedback loops are in place to adjust as market dynamics change.
* Conduct market analysis, monitor industry trends, and identify opportunities to maximise the value of SQE’s gas position.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess market potential, evaluate risks, and define business development strategies
* Manage and lead the work of a team; provide motivation, encouragement, and opportunities for development; manage any underperformance issues if required in consultation with People and Culture; actively monitor leave requests of team.
About you
You will have:
* Proven skills and experience in the supervision and co-ordination of operations analytics within the gas and renewable energy space or similar operational role.
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (mechanical or electrical), Economics or Accounting
* Working knowledge and understanding of the NEM and East Coast Gas Markets with ability to drive performance improvements and market strategies.
* Experience as an analyst and relevant tools and techniques.
* High level troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and the ability to be technically innovative.
* Strong written and oral skills.
* Excellent communication and liaison skills with the proven ability to effectively interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Effective leadership and supervision skills.
* Effective planning and organisational skills.
* Excel and database skills.
