Senior Robotics Engineer
Apply to join Anduril Industries as a Senior Robotics Engineer in the Maritime Division, building autonomous systems for defense.
About The Team
Anduril's Maritime Division assembles experts in software, robotics, AI, sensor fusion, and data analysis to create software and hardware solutions that radically evolve capabilities. We field the next generation of autonomous systems to tackle maritime operations, including our ultra‐long‐range, full‐ocean‐depth vessel platform, and perform robot‐as‐a‐service (RaaS) operations.
About The Job
Senior Robotics Engineers independently drive delivery of vehicle perception and planning capability. You will design and implement systems from sensor selection and integration through perception architecture, motion planning, health management, behavior analysis, simulation, and test infrastructure, and interface with lower‐ and higher‐level systems.
What You'll Do
* Design and implement safe navigation, collision avoidance, and situational awareness systems that balance constraints, restrictions and requirements in a multi‐stakeholder environment.
* Develop scalable subsystems including sensor processing, perception, tracking, motion planning, health management, anomaly detection, simulation, testing fixtures, and vehicle interfaces.
* Contribute reusable software components across Anduril product lines.
* Apply computer vision, sensor fusion, and machine learning techniques to enhance perception and planning.
* Test and validate algorithms using simulation and real‐world data, evolving data‐analysis tooling.
* Collaborate with cross‐functional teams (software, mechanical, systems engineering) for effective integration and testing.
* Travel to co‐locate with end‐users and teams up to 20% of the time.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in robotics, mechatronics, computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Proficient in C++ and/or Python software development.
* Familiarity with autonomous vehicle hardware and sensors such as radar, sonar, LIDAR, and cameras.
* Knowledge of computer vision, sensor fusion, SLAM, motion planning, or machine learning.
* Senior perception or planning experience delivering a robotic system.
* Capability to own a system, engaging stakeholders, defining requirements, managing design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
* Experience in validating and verifying perception and planning modules.
* Ability to mentor junior teammates and build team capacity.
* Eligible for an Australian Government Negative Vetting 2 security clearance (NV2).
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with autonomous systems in ground, air, maritime, or space domains.
* Experience with simulation tools (Gazebo, Unity, Unreal) for algorithm validation.
* Knowledge of safety standards and certification processes for autonomous systems.
* Familiarity with system engineering concepts.
