About the Department - Coordinator General's Office The creation of the Coordinator General's Office is a key feature of the State Development Coordination and Facilitation Act, which recently passed Parliament.
The legislation aims to address challenges and delays in assessment and approval processes, while critically maintaining South Australia's high levels of statutory protection.
Overseen by the Coordinator General, the new mechanisms will help manage a growing number of urgent and significant projects, including those involving housing, decarbonisation, and AUKUS, in a timelier manner.

As Director, Planning and Statutory Approvals, you will lead the Coordinator General's Office team responsible for planning, statutory approvals (primary and secondary), and related statutory functions under the State Development Coordination and Facilitation Act ****.
You will play a central role in enabling major and significant developments and development areas that deliver economic, social, and environmental benefits aligned with government priorities.
You will oversee site selection and approval pathway mapping, and provide a single, coordinated "one-window-to-government" approvals service for declared projects and areas.
You will also support the Coordinator General in exercising statutory powers and associated duties with a strong focus on integrity, transparency, and timely decision-making.
Key Responsibilities Lead, inspire, and develop the planning and statutory approvals team within the Coordinator General's Office to deliver high-quality, solutions-focused outcomes.
Oversee facilitation of major projects and development areas, ensuring approval pathways are clear, efficient, and strategically managed.
Ensure robust compliance with the Act and all related statutory obligations, frameworks, and governance requirements.
Drive collaboration across government agencies, local government, and industry to streamline approvals and remove unnecessary barriers to investment.
Provide authoritative strategic and statutory advice to the Coordinator General, Ministers, and senior executives on planning, approvals, and development facilitation.
About you Extensive experience in planning and statutory approvals for large, complex and/or high-profile developments.
Strong understanding of legislative frameworks and government processes.
Proven ability to lead diverse teams and foster an inclusive culture.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
