Your role
This senior leadership role sits within the Office of the Executive Director Financial Performance & Transformation, where it plays a pivotal part in strengthening financial performance, governance and strategic decision‑making across DCJ. As a trusted advisor to the Executive Director, the role leads coordinated efforts across finance business partnering and transformation activities, ensuring financial insights, governance and reporting remain accurate, timely and strategically aligned to organisational priorities. It supports the Executive Director to advance the broader transformation agenda, uplift financial capability and embed more consistent, transparent and efficient financial practices across the organisation.
What you’ll do
As part of the Finance Transformation team within Strategic Finance, the role provides senior leadership across financial analysis, reporting, governance and business partnering, ensuring financial information and advice supports sound executive decision‑making. It collaborates closely with Directors and senior stakeholders to drive improvements in financial processes, deliver consistent and high‑quality reporting, and embed better financial practices across Divisions. The position leads and coordinates key transformation deliverables, including uplift in financial processes, alignment of financial practices, improved operating rhythms and the strengthening of financial controls and workflows. It also ensures risks are identified early, insights are clearly communicated and financial stewardship is maintained through periods of organisational change.
The role operates within a high‑performing, collaborative and strategically focused team that leads Finance Business Partnering services across DCJ. The environment is dynamic and fast paced, underpinned by strong partnerships, a commitment to high‑quality financial stewardship and a culture that values integrity, transparency and shared problem solving. The team emphasises continuous improvement, capability uplift and consistency in financial practice, working closely with Divisions to strengthen financial governance and provide clear, actionable insights that support better outcomes for the community.
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate is an experienced senior finance leader with strong analytical acumen, strategic thinking capability and deep experience in financial management, financial governance or business partnering. They will bring proven expertise in leading financial improvement initiatives, strengthening financial controls and delivering uplift in financial processes across complex organisations. Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business or Commerce are essential, complemented by strong communication skills, stakeholder influence and an ability to translate complex financial information for executive audiences. Success in the role requires leadership maturity, a collaborative mindset and the ability to drive consistency, transparency and continuous improvement across financial practices while supporting the organisation through change.
