The Team
Join the Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS), a community-based team located in Burnie, Tasmania. The multidisciplinary team delivers compassionate, person-centred mental health care through both in-community and outreach services, working closely with individuals, their families and both formal and informal support networks to help older people live their best lives.
The Role
* Acts as a clinical expert and resource for nursing, medical and allied health staff in the management of consumers with complex mental health needs, working with other members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care within the designated area of practice.
* Provides consultation liaison across North West Regional Hospital and other inpatient units as appropriate.
* As a senior clinician within the Older Persons Community Mental Health team, provides clinical expertise and care across OPMHS including triage services and case management duties (as required).
You will need
* Sound knowledge of adult and older persons' community-based mental health and mental health consultation-liaison services in acute hospital settings, comorbidities, and available healthcare and psychosocial supports, or ability to acquire quickly.
* Effectively manages time and resources, prioritising clinical and administrative tasks while applying risk management, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. Skilled in independent and collaborative decision-making, leading change initiatives, and implementing best-practice standards in complex clinical environments.
* Possesses advanced written and oral communication, liaison, interpersonal, and counselling skills, functioning confidently within a multidisciplinary team environment and negotiating recommendations for patient care across a wide range of stakeholder groups.
Details of appointment
* Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to twelve (12) months.
* Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Salary
$118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

Eligibility
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
* Current Working with Children Registration.
* Current Driver's Licence.
Desirable criteria
* Credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses or equivalent.
* Holds, or is working towards, relevant tertiary qualifications.
* Relevant experience and certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention such as MAYBO.
