The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian student's from birth to 18 years. An exciting opportunity exists to join the Corporate Services Division in the Human Resources Unit for a fixed term full-time position. * Salary: $79,122 - $96,073 (Plus Superannuation of 12%) * Fixed term till 14/06/2026 * Usual hours of work: Full time (flexible work conditions are available) * Usual work location: East Melbourne The Corporate Services Division is responsible for providing information services to the community and supporting the VCAA in finance, human resources, communications, governance, planning, legal services, information technology infrastructure, procurement, audit, risk and project assurance. The VCAA Human Resources Unit is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of human resource services and payroll processes for the VCAA. This involves ensuring all legal and compliance obligations are met and that processes are managed to ensure data integrity and service quality. Role Purpose The HR and Payroll Officer supports accurate and timely recruitment and payroll processing. The incumbent offers guidance on policy and process adherence and resolves complex issues. Through cross-functional collaboration and a customer centric approach, they support the delivery of high-quality HR and payroll solutions and services. The purpose of this role is to provide a range of HR and payroll services, including: * Support the team in planning and implementing a range of HR/Payroll projects * Provide advice on the appropriate interpretation of HR policy and or HR processes relating to payroll, recruitment and staffing in the VCAA setting * Assist in the implementation of complex HR system and process changes (including LSL remediation) * Contribute to the development, review and maintenance of internal HR/payroll system * Provide technical advice and/or support * Provide administrative advice and support on a range of recruitment initiatives * Work with relational databases, including creating customised stand-alone excel and access databases, extraction and manipulation of data * Financial related work as directed by the HR Manager Attributes * You are driven, enthusiastic and set high standards in your work performance. * You are a collaborative team player with a “can do” attitude. * You have a willingness to learn and ability to adapt to changing priorities * You have solid spoken and written communication skills in writing emails, letters and reports Qualifications and Experience Desirable: Computer proficiency, customer service/administrative background How to apply Applicants are encouraged to include a Curriculum Vitae and a Cover letter addressing the key selection criteria provided in the position description.
