Permanent Part-Time Town Planner: (2–3 Days per Week | 15 Hours)
Copley Marine is a niche engineering organisation specialising in marine infrastructure. We assist our clients with everything from design, planning, engineering and approvals. With jobs ranging from domestic jetties to commercial marinas, every day is different.
About the Role
We are seeking a capable and motivated Town Planner with 3-5 years' experience to join our team. We are offering a permanent part-time position, working approximately 15 hours per week. The office days would be Tuesday to Thursday, but we are flexible and if successful you can choose to complete the hours in 2 or 3 days.
This is an office-based role located in Pymble, suited to a planner with several years' experience who is seeking a flexible but stable working arrangement and ongoing involvement in varied planning work.
The role will involve development assessment, provision of professional planning advice, and support for statutory and strategic planning functions. Experience or interest in marine, coastal, or waterfront planning will be highly regarded.
Responsibilities
* Assess and manage development applications in accordance with planning legislation, instruments, and policies
* Prepare high-quality planning reports and recommendations
* Provide professional planning advice to applicants, consultants, and internal stakeholders
* Interpret and apply local, state, and regional planning controls
* Liaise with government agencies and referral authorities
* Contribute to strategic and policy planning projects as required
* Assist with planning matters relating to coastal, marine, or waterfront environments, where applicable
About You
Degree qualification in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline
Eligible for membership with a relevant professional body (e.g. Planning Institute of Australia or equivalent)
3–5+ years' professional experience in statutory planning
Experience gained within local government or a planning consultancy
Sound knowledge of planning legislation and development assessment processes
Marine, coastal, port, or waterfront planning experience desirable
Strong written communication and report-writing skills
