Music and Wellbeing Research Position
This is a research-focused role that combines music with wellbeing to create positive community impact. The successful candidate will drive an ambitious agenda at the intersection of music, health, and community engagement.
The position involves developing a research strategy in music and health that responds to community needs. It also requires leading engagement initiatives connecting new communities with music programs, short courses, and professional development opportunities.
Strong partnerships with First Nations communities, health professionals, educators, and regional partners are essential for this role. Documenting and sharing the impact of music and arts in creating healthier, more connected communities is also a key responsibility.
The appointment is based at our Newcastle City Campus, which provides access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources. This is a capacity-building appointment designed to strengthen the visibility and reach of music and arts research.
We are seeking a highly qualified individual with expertise in music (or the performing arts broadly) who can move fluidly between research, practice, and community engagement. A doctoral qualification in music or a related field is required.
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in community-engaged, applied, or socially impactful music scholarship. They should possess skills in creating engaging, responsive learning experiences and have strong communication skills.
