The Role
Based in Melbourne's Inner North, our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their Finance Team. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this is a hands‐on role covering accounts receivable, credit control, and broader accounting and administration functions across a complex, multi‐entity group.
Responsibilities
* Daily receipting and customer account maintenance – Australia & New Zealand
* Review and approval of purchase orders and dispatch requests
* Intercompany invoicing, monthly reconciliation and EOM debtor balancing
* NZ credit applications, PPSR registrations and Equifax monitoring
* Weekly debt collection follow‐up and credit limit management
* Payroll administration in liaison with outsourced provider; employee lifecycle management
* GL entries, bank reconciliations and EOM reporting for assigned group entities
* Compliance with payroll tax, workers' compensation and other regulatory obligations
* Corporate insurance renewals, workers' comp claims and fleet/facility contract management
* Support the broader finance team with invoice processing, vendor reconciliation and audit documentation
* Liaise with regulatory agencies and collate documentation for internal and external audits
* Other ad‐hoc duties to support the team
The Person
* Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field
* 5+ years' experience in a similar role, ideally within a multi‐entity environment
* Solid hands‐on experience in credit control and day‐to‐day AR management
* Advanced Microsoft Excel and experience with a major ERP system (D365 advantageous)
* Strong understanding of AR processes, credit management and debt collection practices
* Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast‐paced environmentI
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
