**About the Opportunity
Liverpool Hospital is seeking a skilled Medico-Legal Administration Officer for our Clinical Information Department. This role involves managing medico-legal documentation, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and coordinating with healthcare professionals and legal teams. You will oversee the accuracy and timeliness of clinical records, supporting legal and regulatory requirements.
**What you'll be doing**
To contribute to the efficient operation of the Clinical Information Department by processing the release of personal health information for medico-legal purposes in particular litigation, police requests, subpoenas, copies of clinical records, requests for medical reports summary of injuries, completion of all deceased paperwork/records and requests for information for ongoing care purposes. To ensure that patient privacy is maintained as per relevant policies and procedures.
**Where you'll be working**
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.
**How to Apply**
- Previous clerical experience in a health or legal environment.
- Completion of medical terminology course or willingness to complete course.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision, and demonstrate excellent team skills.
- Effective organisation and communication skills and the ability to effectively deal with difficult customers.
- Demonstrated attention to detail to ensure accuracy in a high volume environment.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to problem solve, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and adapt to a changing environment.
- A good understanding of legislation regarding release of information and privacy.
