Synopsis
Emergency Management Coordinator
Full-Time opportunity. $51.42 per hour + superannuation.
Play a key role in strengthening Wodonga Council's emergency preparedness, community safety and organisational resilience. As Emergency Management Coordinator, you'll lead the planning, coordination and continuous improvement of Council's emergency management activities, embedding emergency management as a core component of Council business to support Council and the community to respond before, during and after emergency situations.
Key Aspects Of The Role
* Lead Council's emergency management approach – take ownership of planning, ensuring frameworks, plans and processes are in place, up to date and aligned with legislation.
* Build capability across the organisation – deliver training, exercises and practical guidance that helps staff understand their role in emergency situations.
* Strengthen partnerships and coordination – work closely with emergency services, regional partners, funding bodies and internal stakeholders to build strong relationships and support a connected, strategic and community‐focused approach to emergency management.
* Provide trusted advice and lead during emergencies – act as a key point of expertise before, during and after emergencies, stepping into formal emergency roles when required and providing clear advice, reporting and coordination to support effective decision‐making and recovery.
What We're Looking For
* Qualification or substantial experience in emergency management, business continuity or a related field.
* Proven ability to develop and deliver emergency management programs, plans and training.
* Excellent communication skills – the ability to administer grant programs, prepare reports, deliver training and present to stakeholders.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across complex environments.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively in high‐pressure situations.
* Strong risk analysis and problem‐solving capability in emergency and community safety contexts.
Required Documents
* Copy of a recent National Police Check (less than 3 months).
* A current driver's licence.
* Evidence of right to work in Australia.
