The Role
Our Wollongong-based team is seeking an experienced, degree-qualified Electrical Engineer to work on various projects. The ideal candidate will assist in delivering Capital Projects, focusing on electrical work packages aligned with the approved plant Capital Budget. Responsibilities include:
* Participating in all project phases within the electrical scope as required by the Project Manager/Engineer
* Defining system architecture and preparing feasibility assessments from electrical and automation perspectives
* Designing electrical and automated control systems, including Human Machine Interface (HMI) development
* Ensuring compliance with relevant BlueScope and IEEE Standards
* Selecting appropriate technology (PLC, Drives, Instruments, Sensors, Valves, Actuators, MCC, Motors, etc.) ensuring compatibility
* Creating design drawings for electrical and automation systems, including Single Line Diagrams, Motor Control Schematics, Control Panel Layouts, Power Distribution Systems, I/O Wiring, Loop Drawings, and Network System Design
* Preparing technical reports and client communications for project stakeholders
* Reviewing and preparing specifications and contract documents for procurement and construction
* Participating in installation and commissioning of electrical work packages for specific projects
Candidate Attributes
* Electrical engineering degree or equivalent
* Background in Electrical or Automation Engineering, preferably with Instrumentation and PLC systems experience
* Minimum 8 years of relevant industrial experience, including safety systems, work documentation, supervision, commissioning, and project closeout
* Experience in multidisciplinary engineering project development
* Ability to read, design, or troubleshoot P&ID and electrical diagrams
* Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
