SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE AND APPROVALS COORDINATOR

We're looking for motivated Senior Environment & Approvals Coordinator to join the team at Chain Valley Colliery. This pivotal role is responsible for the development and execution of environmental management and the mines approval strategy for Delta Coal. This will include environmental management that ensures ongoing compliance to existing approvals such as development consents, environmental protection licenses and mining leases, as well as, approvals management in the form of development consent applications and modifications, extraction plan approvals and more in order to provide the business with mining approvals to support business objectives.
The successful candidate will be required to:
* Oversee future mine approvals and coordinate with technical specialists to navigate the NSW planning approval pathways effectively.
* Collaborate with government departments to secure timely approvals, minimising operational delays during reviews by regulatory bodies, independent panels, and independent commissions.
* Develop strong relationships with regulatory bodies to foster effective communication, collaboration, and alignment with project objectives.
* Ensure continuous compliance with site approvals, licences, leases, and regulations to achieve operational adherence and risk mitigation.
* Lead the Delta Coal environmental team, providing guidance and support to team members to achieve operational goals and regulatory compliance.
* Drive engagement to environmental aspects across the workforce, promoting sustainability and responsibility.
* Undertake community consultation and consultation with stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
* Ensure the ongoing maintenance and continual improvement of the Delta Coal environmental management system.
* Develop/ revise management plans to support ongoing environment and subsidence management; and
* Perform other duties to support the Environmental functions on site required.
To be a strong contender for this unique role, you must have:
* Tertiary qualifications at minimum degree level in Science, Environmental Science, Mining Engineering or equivalent qualifications.
* Extensive experience in leading and managing major project implementation, including mine approval projects, plan development and the development of planning approvals
* Extensive experience in environmental management in a mining-related environment including organisational representation to regulators, local governments and community groups.
* Experience working with Environmental legislation & regulatory frameworks(e.g., EP&A Act, EPBC Act, POEO Act, Mining Act)
* Demonstrated experience in applying an Environmental Management System to deliver system improvements and to lead change management processes
* Substantial interpersonal (negotiation and influencing skills) and written (report preparation) skills.
