Job Title: Leading Hand Boilermaker
The role of a Leading Hand Boilermaker is to oversee a team of skilled craftsmen in the fabrication of custom-engineered products. This includes planning workshop production, performing various fabrication duties and welding techniques, and ensuring all work is completed safely and to the highest quality.
This individual will be responsible for mentoring apprentices and production employees, sourcing and providing technical information, and participating in internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities:
* Fabrication and Assembly: Lead a team of boilermakers in the construction of custom-engineered products.
* Workshop Planning: Assist in the planning of workshop production to maximise productivity gains and improve efficiencies.
* Welding Techniques: Perform GMAW and FCAW welding techniques as required.
* Technical Knowledge: Accurately read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Mentorship: Provide training and mentoring of apprentices and production employees.
* Tech Support: Sourcing and providing technical information and advice to staff and operations personnel.
* Quality Assurance: Ensure infrastructure is regularly inspected and maintained.
* Audits: Participate in internal and external audits.
Requirements:
* Trade Qualification: Recognised trade qualification (engineering fabrication preferred).
* Experience: +5 years' fabrication trade experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
* Safe Working Procedures: Knowledge of safe working procedures.
* Numeric Reasoning: Solid numeric reasoning.
* Communication Skills: Strong communication skills.
* Process Improvement: Knowledge of process improvement techniques.
