At Lutheran Education Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania (LEVNT) we are passionate about providing quality education and care within a Christian environment to children attending our Services throughout our region.
St John's Lutheran Kindergarten is a community-based sessional Kindergarten service offering funded programs for children from 3 years to school age. Located in Newtown, St John's Kindergarten welcomes up to 27 children and their families per day. We also provide an Early Years Language Program which gives children the opportunity to learn French with an additional Early Childhood Teacher within our 'Year Before School' programs.
We are seeking an Early Childhood Educator (Diploma or Early Childhood Teacher) to fill a part time position, commencing in Term One, 2026. The position is for a French speaking Educator to deliver the Early Childhood Language Program working within our Kindergarten room. This position requires the candidate to be available to work 9hrs per week (very flexible delivery of hours - 6hr contact, 3hrs non-contact) during Term time only. Under VECTEA 2020, educators are paid during school holidays on this model.
The Role
This role requires the successful applicant to work collaboratively with a team of Early Childhood Teachers and Educators to deliver a funded kindergarten program which adheres to the Victorian Early Years Learning Framework and Kindergarten Funding Guide requirements. The educator, alongside their team, will use the planning cycle to deliver high quality, innovative programs that cater to the developmental needs and interests of the children in their care. The successful applicant will build and maintain positive relationships with children, their families and colleagues to ensure a respectful, safe environment for all people who use and work at our service.
ECLP guidelines, language teachers have the following roles and responsibilities:
* Delivering the ECLP in line with the VEYLDF.
* Developing and sourcing age-appropriate language resources, games, experiences, and play-based activities.
* Embedding the ECLP across the entire kindergarten program.
* Undertaking the Language Proficiency Assessment arranged by the Department at the beginning of their employment to demonstrate appropriate language skills.
* Completing the online Early Childhood Language Teaching Methodology course that is mandatory for all new language teachers to complete within the first two terms of starting.
* Regularly co-planning with the early childhood teacher, Educational Leader and other educators involved in delivering the ECLP.
* Engaging with relevant professional learning offered by the Department.
Selection Criteria
* Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or higher
* Native, or near native proficiency in French language skills
* Current First Aid Qualifications including CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis.
* Current child protection training.
* Excellent knowledge of current Early Childhood Legislation and the National Quality Laws and Regulations.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to positively, proactively and regularly engage with staff, children and families.
* Demonstrated skills to maintain a positive work culture and work within successful teams.
* Sound computer skills.
* Commitment to the Christian ethos of the Lutheran Church.
