Position
We are currently seeking committed, high‐performing placemakers to join us in the position of Aviation Protection Officers at Launceston Airport. Casual roles are available.
The Position
The Terminal Operations team is a pivotal part of security operations at Launceston Airport and is looking for highly driven, passionate and available individuals to join them!
Reporting to the Security Manager and working closely with the entire terminal operations workforce, the role will be responsible for high quality security functions across Launceston Airport.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for consistent and standard security practices ensuring passengers and their possessions are checked and cleared prior to departure
* Control access to security sensitive areas, undertaking physical searches, and identifying weapons, explosives and prohibited items
* Efficiently co‐ordinate the flow of passengers through security screening
* Demonstrate effective communication and sound decision making skills
* Provide consistent, high quality customer service
* Work as part of a high performing team

Minimum Criteria
* Ability to obtain an ASIC security clearance (Criminal history clearance for the past 10 years)
* Successfully pass drug & alcohol screening, Ishihara test and medical assessments
* Hold or willing to obtain a Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (In order to work in Aviation Security, you must hold this qualification)
* True 24/7 availability, including shift work and weekends on a rotating roster
* Own reliable transport
* Highly developed security awareness and focus
* Ability to work in a fast‐paced environment
* Effective communication skills, and professional demeanor
* Computer literacy skills (Windows systems, Microsoft Office Suite)
* Extensive experience in high quality customer service
* Must have full working rights
About the Certificate II Transport Security Protection (TSP)
Aviation security is an important industry, keeping travelling passengers and their loved ones safe in the air - and to meet new and emerging threat levels, specific theoretical knowledge has been passed through Parliament as a requirement for all Aviation Screeners.
As the Employer and Training Provider, we are in a unique position to guide and support you through the Certificate II in Transport Security Protection and 40 hours paid On‐the‐Job Training required for all Aviation Screeners preparing you for your new role as an Aviation Protection Officer, with our Registered Training Organisation.
This nationally recognised qualification is offered at the cost of $1000 (normally valued at $2000). It includes approximately 25 hours online learning plus 5 days of paid practical training delivered within our airport operations as well as access to webinars and online support while you gain your qualification.
