We’re partnering with a large Queensland Government department seeking an experienced System Administrator to help manage and evolve their enterprise virtualisation and storage environment. This role sits within a high-performing Storage & Virtualisation team that underpins the digital infrastructure powering multiple state government agencies. What you’ll be doing Administer and optimise VMware vSphere ESXi / vCenter and Aria Suite (with transition to VCF 9 ) Support virtual desktop and backup/recovery platforms across large-scale environments Manage enterprise NAS and Fibre Channel SAN infrastructure Support cloud storage technologies – Azure Files, Azure Blob, AWS S3 Troubleshoot incidents, respond to service requests, and engage with vendors when needed Deliver infrastructure patches, upgrades, and lifecycle refreshes Automate, script, and streamline — using PowerShell or Linux scripting Keep documentation sharp and accurate Be part of duty and on-call rosters, ensuring uptime for critical systems What we’re looking for Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere ESXi & vCenter (v7 or v8) Solid Linux administration background (ideally Red Hat Enterprise ) Scripting ability — PowerShell or Bash for automation and data collection Understanding of backup, NAS, and SAN fundamentals Exposure to server hardware (firmware updates, troubleshooting, vendor liaison) Bonus points for Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), NSX, Aria Automation, or Omnissa Horizon Knowledge of HPE Synergy, Brocade SAN, PureStorage, Hitachi, or DELL Isilon Familiarity with DELL Avamar, PowerProtect, or Data Domain Experience with Terraform, GitHub, or Visual Studio Cloud integration experience (AWS / Azure storage services) To apply please upload your CV in word format.
