Join The BUSY Group and be part of a program that changes lives. BUSY GRIT (Girls Rising into Trades) is a targeted initiative supporting young women aged 14–17 who are at risk of disengaging from school and entering the youth justice system. We help them build confidence, resilience, and pathways into the Cairns high-demand trade industries.
A bit about the role...
As a Project Mentor, you'll deliver one-on-one mentoring and coordinate group workshops to help participants overcome barriers and achieve their goals. You'll work closely with schools, youth justice agencies, and community organisations and local industries to promote engagement and positive outcomes. Your role includes developing tailored action plans, facilitating program activities, and maintaining accurate documentation in line with compliance standards.
This is a full-time, 12 month fixed-term position based in Cairns, reporting to the General Manager – Youth, Health and Community Services.

Skills And Experiences
A bit about you…
9. Desirable qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Services, or VET
10. 2+ years' experience in youth engagement, mentoring, or community services
11. Lived experience in a trade occupation highly regarded
12. Ability to build rapport with young people and stakeholders
13. Knowledge of VET pathways and education systems
14. Blue Card, National Police Check, and open driver's licence required
