Details: Victim Support ACT is seeking passionate individuals to apply for the role of Director, Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS).
As a delegate of the Victims of Crime Commissioner, the Director of the FAS will lead and manage a team of assessors and administrative staff to ensure the provision of high quality and timely assessment of applications for financial assistance which are made under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance) Act 2016 and Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance) Regulation 2016.
The Director of the FAS will work innovatively with colleagues across VSACT to implement welcome recommendations from the ACT Government's 2021 'Projects Assisting Victims' Experience and Recovery (PAVER) Review' of frontline VS ACT services; provide advice and guidance about legislative reform that will improve the efficiency of the scheme and work closely with the ICT Project Manager to implement system improvements.

Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge
* Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including the ability to motivate and lead people, create a cooperative work environment and high performing team, establish priorities and manage competing deadlines.
* Demonstrated knowledge of financial program management practices within ACT Government.
* Demonstrated ability to interpret, provide advice on and make decisions based on legislation.
Behavioural Capabilities
* Liaison and communication skills of a high order, including the capacity to interrogate, negotiate or communicate on behalf of the agency with clients or stakeholders, often to finality.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and/or contribute to organisational change processes including planning, policy development and change implementation.
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Compliance Requirements/Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in law is highly desirable.
* Experience working with victims of crime, including people affected by domestic, family and sexual violence is highly desirable.
* Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, people from a multicultural background and people with a disability is highly desirable.

* This position requires a National Police Check.
Notes: This is a temporary position available from 23 March 2026 until 23 February 2027 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.
