About the role
We are seeking an experienced Municipal Services Field Manager who is organised, confident in managing teams, and comfortable working across remote locations to join our team. This role provides oversight, supervision, and scheduling of municipal service activities across the Kimberley, supporting regionally based teams and municipal service operations to ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with operational requirements. Regular travel throughout the Kimberley, including overnight stays and, at times, travel on short notice, is required.
Key responsibilities
* Coordinate municipal service activities, such as waste, roads, and landfill maintenance for 60+ remote communities
* Supervise and support regional and mobile teams to ensure work is completed to required standards
* Assist in the management of all machinery and equipment, ensuring everything is well-maintained and ready for use
* Work closely with senior management to review and improve local services based on on-the-ground knowledge
* Lead and train Supervisors and Municipal Service Officers
* Build strong, positive relationships with local residents and the Department of Communities
* Willingness to train employees on the safe use of various machinery and equipment, including ride-on mowers, whipper snippers, chainsaws, rubbish trucks, tractors, and sprayers
Location and roster
This is a permanent, Monday to Friday, residential role based at our Broome office. Kimberley residents are strongly encouraged to apply, as well as those looking to relocate to Broome. Relocation assistance available.
What you will need
* An ability to demonstrate a high work ethic, integrity and safe work practices together with a positive mindset.
* Culturally respectful approach to working with Indigenous communities
* Experience using a range of machinery and equipment, including but not limited to ride-on-mowers, whipper snippers, chainsaws, garbage trucks, tractors, weed sprayers
* Proven experience living and working in remote, non-mining environments
* Confident remote driving skills on unsealed roads with a C-class licence and clean driving record
* Leadership experience with the ability to manage and mentor teams with a supportive approach
* Self-sufficient with excellent time management and workload prioritisation
* Skilled in using and coaching others on technology
* High attention to detail in record-keeping and data reporting
* Current First Aid Certificate
* Completion of a mechanical trade qualification
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent)
* Demonstrated ability to communicate with Indigenous people
* Previous work experience in the Kimberley or other remote Indigenous communities
* High risk work licence (loader/grader operation)
