Offer description

Director of Education (Data Center Critical Environments)
Location: Melbourne - Australia Melbourne
Employment Type: Full-time, Perm

Our client is a leading global data center developer and operator, with 4.0+GW of capacity built or under development, with an additional 6.0+GW of planned and potential development worldwide. They are actively expanding across APAC with Melbourne being one of the key focus. They are seeking an experienced technical professional to build and govern the technical training framework for their Australian data center operations. This is a build role – you will design the curriculum, launch the online learning platform, and personally deliver training to ensure our technical teams (Site Directors, Critical Facilities Managers, and Engineers) operate at the highest standard of excellence.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Program Development

· Build and launch the Australia technical training framework and online training platform (LMS) from the ground up.
· Develop technical curricula, structured learning pathways, and competency matrices for recruitment, onboarding, and annual capability maintenance.
· Create technical examinations and assessments to validate skills at interview stage and throughout employment.
· Ensure all programs align with Australian regulatory, licensing, and industry standards relevant to critical infrastructure.

Delivery & Facilitation

· Personally deliver training in classroom, on-site, and virtual formats.
· Train and certify local site leaders (Site Directors, Facilities Managers) to administer competency assessments.
· Maintain the LMS as the single source of truth for training records, version control, and audit readiness.

Stakeholder Engagement

· Partner with Site Directors, Engineering, and HR to identify technical skill gaps and develop targeted modules.
· Collaborate with local technical colleges and institutes to establish industry pathways and post-graduate programs.
· Promote a culture of continuous learning and operational discipline across all sites.

Requirements:

You are the "Operator-Trainer." You started your career hands-on – perhaps as an engineer, technician, or facilities manager – and you have since moved into workforce development, technical training, or capability uplift.

· Technical Credibility: 7+ years experience in a critical environment (data centers, pharma, power, aviation, fuel, heavy industrial).
· Program Design: Proven ability to design technical training programs, write curricula, and build competency assessments from scratch (not just deliver existing content).
· Regulatory Mindset: You understand what it takes to operate in a highly regulated or compliance-driven environment and can translate that rigor into training content.
· Facilitation Skills: You are comfortable in front of a room, whether teaching a new hire or coaching a seasoned Site Director.
· Documentation Discipline: You maintain version control, governance, and audit-ready records without being asked.
· Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Discipline, or Education. Certified training credentials (e.g., TAE40116) are highly regarded but not essential.
