About the Opportunity
Are you friendly, love fishing or being by the water, and have a strong desire to help others? Fishability, a not‑for‑profit volunteer association, is looking for volunteers to develop independence and provide the excitement of catching a fish for people with disabilities in the Western Australia community.
Responsibilities
Volunteers assist with setting up gear, baiting, casting a line, and caring for the catch. Specialized gear, such as electric reels for those who need them, is available.
Qualifications
All volunteers must have a positive, friendly, and empathetic nature. Experience with fishing is not required. Previous experience working within the disability sector would be helpful but is not essential.
Commitment
Regular – more than 6 months.
Type of Work
Companionship & Social Support, Disability Support.
Time Required
One day per week for 2 hrs, 10:00 am – midday (no set day, midweek ideal). We usually have a six‑to‑seven‑week break during summer and an eight‑week break during winter.
Training
On‑the‑job training, induction, and a uniform are provided.
