Mine Planning Engineer | Strategic Site-Based Role | FIFO ex-Perth Engineering Trades Australia is working with a major iron ore producer to recruit an experienced Mine Planning Engineer for a high-profile site in the Pilbara. This is an ongoing contract role with long-term potential, offering the chance to work on one of Australia’s largest and most advanced mining operations. Our client is a globally recognised owner-operator known for their world-class infrastructure, integrated supply chain, and data-driven approach to operational performance. You’ll be joining a site that moves millions of tonnes annually, backed by cutting-edge technology and a strong technical services team. Key Responsibilities: Develop detailed Short to Medium-Term Plans that align with operational KPIs and optimise use of equipment and personnel Lead all aspects of Drill & Blast design, including layouts, charge instructions, timing, and post-blast reviews Conduct daily reconciliation across Drill & Blast, Load & Haul, and Crushing performance, and drive corrective actions where needed Optimise pit, dump, and stockpile designs and haulage paths to maximise ore recovery and reduce cost per tonne Collaborate with operational teams, superintendents, and schedulers to ensure planning supports production efficiency About You: Degree-qualified Mining Enginee r with significant experience in open-pit iron ore operations Strong technical understanding of mine planning software, drill & blast, and infrastructure design Ability to work autonomously and contribute to team-based planning outcomes Quarry Manager Cert or Site Senior Executive (SSE) preferred but not essential Confident communicator and problem-solver, comfortable working across technical and operational teams What’s on Offer: Ongoing contract with long-term project visibility 8:6 FIFO roster ex-Perth with excellent camp facilities and amenities Work on one of the largest, most modern iron ore mines in Australia Exposure to high-volume operations, advanced planning tools, and career-defining experience Weekly pay, competitive rates, and full support from Engineering Trades Australia Ready to make an impact on one of WA’s flagship mining projects?
