The Australian Antarctic Division (AAD), part of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, leads Australia's Antarctic Program. The AAD supports scientific research, protects the Antarctic environment and manages the built infrastructure at Antarctic and sub‑Antarctic stations. The Assets & Infrastructure Branch provides and maintains equipment, infrastructure and major projects essential to station operations.
The Job
The Supervisor Plumbing and Mechanical Services leads and supports a team of plumbers to deliver safe, efficient and compliant operations across Kingston, Antarctic and sub‑Antarctic sites. Key responsibilities include:
* Direct supervision of the Kingston plumbing team
* Oversight of plumbing, gas and mechanical services systems across all stations
* Appointment and training of plumbers, gasfitters and mechanical services technicians
* Ensuring safety, legislative compliance and environmental management
* Managing works programs, seasonal planning and technical support coordination
* Maintaining accurate work data, budgets and workforce capability
This is a leadership role contributing directly to AAD's operational readiness and the safety and wellbeing of expeditioners. Flexible employment arrangements are available with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
