About our client
Our client is delivering a large-scale, mission‐critical infrastructure transformation programme of national significance, focused on building a modern, secure and highly automated platform within a tightly regulated environment.
At the core of this programme is the creation of a standardised, automated server estate, deployed across hundreds of hosts and multiple secure data centres. This platform underpins critical systems and requires consistency, repeatability and precision at scale.
The transformation is being delivered through a structured build and migration pipeline, where automation is essential to meeting delivery timelines, maintaining quality, and ensuring compliance across all environments.
About the role
You will lead post‐build configuration and automation, ensuring all server infrastructure is consistently configured, compliant and ready for integration into the wider platform.
This role is central to scalability and delivery velocity, sitting between infrastructure build and operational readiness.
Key responsibilities
* Deliver post‐OS configuration across Windows Server environments at scale
* Develop and implement PowerShell and DSC‐based automation frameworks
* Configure and manage Active Directory domain joins, Group Policy baselines and patching (WSUS)
* Enable and configure Hyper‐V roles and integrate with SCVMM environments
* Automate repeatable host build processes across hundreds of servers
* Validate build consistency, compliance and configuration accuracy across all nodes
* Identify and resolve build or configuration inconsistencies during deployment waves
* Maintain detailed build documentation, configuration baselines and reporting outputs
* Work closely with platform, security and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless pipeline handover
This is a hands‐on engineering role where automation is critical to enabling delivery at scale.
The successful candidate
You are a strong infrastructure engineer with a passion for automation, consistency and scalable delivery, and experience working within enterprise‐level build programmes.
* 4–7+ years experience in Windows Server administration and build environments
* Advanced capability in PowerShell scripting and automation (DSC strongly preferred)
* Experience delivering across large‐scale infrastructure deployments or transformation programmes
* Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, patching and system configuration
* Exposure to Hyper‐V and virtualisation platforms
* Detail‐oriented, with a strong focus on repeatability, quality and standardisation
Mandatory requirement
* NV2 clearance preferred, OR NV1 with NV2 actively in progress (non‐negotiable)
What is on offer
* $170,000 + super + performance bonus
* Core role in automation‐led infrastructure delivery at scale
* Opportunity to influence build standards, consistency and delivery efficiency across the programme
* Work on a mission‐critical platform supporting nationally significant systems
* Long‐term engagement (initial 2‐year programme with strong extension potential)
* Melbourne or Adelaide preferred, with flexibility for FIFO arrangements across Australia
* Work alongside high‐performing engineering and architecture teams
Why this opportunity stands out
This role sits at the intersection of automation, scale and delivery, enabling a programme where speed, precision and consistency are critical to success.
You'll be helping to build a platform that supports secure, high‐performance environments at national scale, in a role where your work directly improves efficiency, quality and programme outcomes.
If you want to be part of a programme where automation is not an add‐on but a core delivery engine, this is a standout opportunity.
