Job Title: Vessel Operations Coordinator
We are seeking an experienced and skilled vessel operations coordinator to support our maritime logistics section in the Australian Antarctic Division.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement training programs for watercraft operators and competent crew members, with a focus on vessel familiarization, induction, and operation.
* Conduct regular safety audits and assessments of safety gear and equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Support the preparation and execution of local on-water movements and operations, including sea trials and supporting other government agencies or agreements.
* Collaborate with contractors to maintain and inspect watercraft, ensuring timely completion of maintenance activities and survey reports.
* Manage maintenance records and conduct basic maintenance tasks to ensure vessel readiness for each voyage.
* Support the recruitment and assessment processes for watercraft operator (expedition) positions, ensuring candidate suitability and competence.
* Prepare and stage vessels and associated equipment for each voyage, including creation of consignments and bio-security preparation activities.
* Contribute to the development and maturation of the Safety Management System and associated SOPs, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:
* Proven experience operating similar vessel types across a range of operations, with a strong focus on safety and risk management.
* Ability to develop and deliver comprehensive training programs, with a focus on adult learning principles and effective communication.
* Experience in supporting maintenance, inspection, and survey programs for domestic commercial vessels, with a focus on compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret procedural, regulatory, and legislative documentation to facilitate the production of procedural documentation and training programs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience in procurement, financial, and records management, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
