About The Team
Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
As part of this function, the Quality team ensures our technology is reliable, resilient, and performs at scale. We partner across Product, Engineering, Delivery, and Operations to uplift testing capability and guarantee that Coles’ technology works — every time.
About The Role
As a Quality Manager, you will lead a team of Senior Quality Engineers and Quality Engineers to deliver high‑quality testing outcomes across multiple initiatives. You’ll define testing strategies, validate requirements, oversee execution, and apply strong quality governance to ensure technology solutions meet functional and non‑functional expectations.
This role combines technical expertise with people leadership to uplift quality practices and enable confident delivery across the technology portfolio.
Key responsibilities include
Quality Operations
Define and enhance testing methods, tools, and procedures.Establish acceptance criteria and testing approaches for agile and waterfall delivery.Lead testing strategies across all phases, including planning, execution, and dependency management.Analyse test results, highlight risks, and guide remediation and prioritisation.
People Leadership
Lead and coach a high‑performing team of Quality Engineers.Set clear expectations, drive accountability, and support career growth.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure compliance with Coles policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.Embed strong governance and manage quality and compliance incidents.
Key Relationships
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Delivery, and Operations.Manage relationships with external vendor partners.
About You And Your Skills
Strong experience in software testing across multiple test phases.Ability to analyse complex datasets and synthesise findings quickly.Proven leadership experience in coaching and developing technical teams.Skilled in designing test plans and balancing manual and automated approaches.Experience with Agile and Waterfall methods.Understanding of retail technology environments and how users interact with systems at scale.
