What You'll Do
* Lead and oversee preparation of mechanical cost estimates
* Conduct tender reviews and approvals with senior management
* Balance hands-on estimating (about 50%) with team leadership
* Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation
* Coordinate suppliers and subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing
* Analyse and validate material, labour, and equipment costs
* Support tender submissions with detailed breakdowns and feasibility data
* Maintain and improve estimating systems and cost libraries
* Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings

Skills Required
* Proven track record in mechanical estimating for heavy industry projects
* Strong experience with first-principles estimating methods
* Ability to manage and mentor an estimating team of 7–8
* Commercial acumen in supplier and subcontractor management
* Experience with turbines, pipework, fabrication, or large mechanical systems
* Clear understanding of Australian codes and standards
* Competent in Microsoft Office and estimating tools
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
