Chief Geologist

Native Mineral Resources (NMR) is a publicly listed minerals exploration company with a portfolio of precious metal and base metal properties in pedigree Australian settings.

NMR operates the Blackjack Processing Plant, based in the Charters Towers region of Northern Queensland as part of a new and exciting transformational acquisition. This acquisition provides the immediate core with extensive exploration potential; several additional projects currently being prioritised and also offers significant upside through resource growth opportunities.

An opportunity has become available for an experienced Chief Geologist reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. This role will be based in Port Macquarie and will require travel throughout Australia.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO, the role will be responsible for planning, development, and implementation of exploration projects, including generating new projects.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and manage the project's exploration strategy, plans, and budgets while contributing to NMR's exploration principles, standards, strategy, and plans.
* Lead the interpretation of geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to understand the significance of results and to define follow-up program designs.
* Undertake target generation from all available data and continuously rank and prioritise identified targets.
* Contribute to project generation by identifying new opportunities and business development activities for the exploration portfolio.
* Manage the collection and interpretation of exploration data from drilling, geophysical, geochemical and geological programs, ensuring quality control and quality assurance.
* Manage field geological mapping, drill-hole logging, stream sediment, soil, and rock-chip geochemical sampling and geophysical programs.
* Maintain in good standing NMR's exploration tenure and relationships with government authorities and other key stakeholders, operating with sensitivity and perception.
* Source and manage contractors and consultants required in support of the exploration programs.
* Deliver government-mandated geological reporting and environmental reporting.
* Consider and manage the cultural heritage, community relations, and environmental implications of exploration activities.
* Be proactive in identifying and reporting potential hazards and eliminating risk-taking behaviours or actions.
* Minimise the company's risk exposure and liabilities by monitoring activities to ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and licensing requirements which includes the respective regulatory Act for the jurisdiction in which you are operating.
* Commit to maintaining health, safety, and security standards and principles, both within own work and through the identification of potential risks throughout NMR.
* Be responsible for overall tenement management for NMR taking responsibility for acquisition, reporting and relinquishment and all other aspects of tenement management
* Maintain effective relationships with NMR's Board, Executive Committee, and regulatory bodies.

Essential Criteria:

NMR are seeking a high-calibre Chief Geologist with exceptional problem-solving skills, adaptability, and capacity to work within a small team.

* Tertiary qualification in geology with significant experience planning and managing the company's geology and exploration activities
* Demonstrated understanding of relevant sections of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations and a deep knowledge of exploration standards and regulations
* Excellent communicator and presenter with strong people, management, and leadership skills
* Demonstrated experience working within a GIS-dominated exploration framework.
* Working experience with 3D geological software such as Geoscience Analyst.
* Excellent report writing skills including demonstrated experience with tenement reporting and report writing.
* Capacity to generate public announcements for release to the ASX.
* Ability to work and manage operations in the field for extended periods of time on, for example, exploration campaigns in remote locations in Western Australia and Queensland.
* Experience managing drilling and other exploration activities.
* Practical skill set and capacity to solve problems.
* Member or Fellow of The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), and/or of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG).
* Australian citizen or permanent resident status required.
