We are now seeking a Civil Engineer with demonstrated experience in engineering planning, compliance documentation, construction engineering, and technical site assessments to support the delivery of sustainable residential dwellings.
About the Role
This full-time position requires the application of core civil engineering principles across planning, design interpretation, structural and site assessments, compliance engineering, and construction quality assurance. The role blends office-based engineering analysis with field-based inspections, ensuring that all works meet structural, regulatory, and sustainability performance requirements.
You will be involved in reviewing technical drawings & documents, preparing engineering compliance material. In addition, you will contribute to cost verification, and variation assessments, ensuring that technical and financial considerations are aligned with project scope and engineering feasibility.
Key Responsibilities
This position carries a diverse engineering scope that requires strong analytical capability combined with hands-on technical experience in residential environments, including:
* Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and scopes of work to ensure proposed activities align with civil engineering principles and client objectives. This includes evaluating structural behaviour, assessing material suitability, and identifying construction methodology constraints while undertaking engineering feasibility assessments in accordance with Australian Standards.
* Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including WHS plans, quality assurance material, method statements and compliance reports. You will ensure alignment with the National Construction Code and relevant AS/NZS standards, while producing technical engineering reports outlining site conditions, identified risks, recommended corrective actions, and opportunities to enhance long-term building performance and sustainability.
* Conduct engineering inspections on residential sites to verify structural capacity, safety conditions and compliance with technical specifications.
* Collaborate closely with subcontractors and field teams, providing engineering guidance to ensure construction methodologies are implemented accurately and safely. This includes providing solutions to the engineering issues using technical judgement, coordinating between different disciplines, and ensuring consistent engineering quality across all activities.
* Contribute to engineering-based cost assessments, quantity validation and variation reviews to confirm that works reflect accurate technical information and align with feasibility constraints.
About You
We are seeking a civil engineer who has strong analytical capability, sound engineering judgement, and confidence working both in the office and on residential sites. You should have the ability to interpret complex engineering documentation, understand structural behaviour in Class 1 dwellings, and communicate engineering requirements clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. A passion for sustainable construction practices, energy-efficiency improvements, and enhancing building performance will be highly valued.
Skills & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
Minimum 3 years' engineering experience, including:
* Engineering planning and design interpretation
* Site condition assessments
* WHS, QA, method statements and compliance documentation
* Multidisciplinary technical coordination
* Engineering-based cost or variation analysis
* Strong understanding of NCC and relevant AS/NZS standards
* Ability to assess structural behaviour, feasibility constraints, and material suitability
* Strong analytical and engineering problem-solving capability
* Experience identifying non-conformances and recommending engineering corrective actions
* Experience in residential Class 1 infrastructure
* Experience with sustainable buildings
* Experience with government contracts
* Experience with engineering-based WHS or QA assessments
* Interest or experience in sustainability, and energy-efficiency compliance
