Overview
Coal LSL is seeking a Finance Business Partner for a 12-month parental leave contract based in Newcastle, NSW, Australia. This role partners with senior leaders to ensure high-quality financial decisions and drive business performance.
What You'll Be Doing
Provide objective financial advice that positively impacts the future choices of a business unit
Identify and drive financial efficiency, ensuring resources are allocated with rigorous cost control and value-for-money focus
Promote financial discipline and risk management processes to support effective cost control
Monitor monthly expenditure against budgets, perform variance analysis, and prepare/distribute monthly financial reports
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts
Contribute to development, implementation, and continual improvement of strategies, processes, and tools
Coach team members in management accounting, cost management, financial analysis, and best-practice principles
Promote financial and commercial acumen across Coal LSL through effective partnering and mentorship
Articulate how finance contributes to the broader strategic plan and initiatives
Collaborate across functions to improve processes and develop the team
Build and maintain relationships with the wider business, sharing best practices and aligning processes
Translate vision and values into day-to-day activities and behaviours
Seek innovative approaches to address problems and improve customer experience
Facilitate change within the team and uphold risk management, compliance and WHS
Note: This is a parental leave 12-month contract position based in Newcastle.

What You'll Bring
To be successful, you will have experience in a finance business partnering or management accounting role, with strong relationship-building across all levels and solid financial acumen.
Expertise in financial analysis, presentation, process improvement, and customer service
Analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and attention to detail
Knowledge of accounting systems and BI tools (e.g., Tableau)
Solid interpersonal and communication skills
Data literacy with descriptive/diagnostic analysis capabilities
Excellent organizational skills; able to work independently or in a team
Ability to work under tight timeframes and adapt to change
You are a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) or have a relevant postgraduate qualification, and a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related discipline.
