Senior Insurance Broker
As a Senior Associate in Lockton's Cyber & Technology Sector team, you will be a client and market-facing broker and adviser. You'll work within the practice on day-to-day placement, coverage design and incident/claims advocacy for Lockton's large and diverse client base and contribute to the practice's growth through delivering best in market client outcomes, and via market relationships and thought leadership. The role blends technical coverage expertise (Cyber, Tech E&O/PI, D&O/ML) with commercial acumen, stakeholder management and a data-driven approach to risk.
Key responsibilities
Client advisory & placement
* Work with the Practice Leader, and own day to day servicing and end-to-end placement for a portfolio of clients, delivering market-leading coverage, pricing, and service.
* Build tailored program structures across Cyber, Technology E&O/PI, Management Liability & D&O, including Primary and excess layers.
* Translate business/Technology risk into insurance outcomes: quantify exposures, explain trade-offs, and present clear recommendations and negotiation strategies.
* Prepare high-quality submissions, renewal strategies, market presentations and client deliverables (board-level and executive).
Technical excellence (wordings & coverage)
* Review, compare and negotiate policy wordings, endorsements, and exclusions; identify gaps and craft insurer-approved manuscript solutions where appropriate.
* Maintain a current view of insurer appetites, rating drivers and systemic risk issues (e.g. contingent BI, third-party/service provider failure, ransomware, data/privacy liability).
Regulatory & contractual risk guidance
* Provide practical guidance on Australian developments relevant to cyber, data and technology risk (e.g. Privacy Act reforms, SOCI Act, APRA CPS 230/234, ASX GN 8 disclosure, ASIC expectations).
* Support contract reviews with clients' legal/procurement teams (liability caps, indemnities, insurance obligations, service credits, data & IP clauses) and align insurance to contracting reality.
* Use loss modelling and portfolio analytics to evidence coverage decisions and pricing movements; contribute to quarterly market updates and client insights.
* Capture and share market intel to inform placement strategy and practice collateral.
Growth & profile
* Identify expansion opportunities within the portfolio and support new business (RFP responses, pitches, solution design).
* Contribute to thought leadership (client alerts, webinars, industry forums) and represent Lockton's independent, client-first ethos.
What you'll bring
* Experience: 5+ years in corporate/commercial insurance broking or underwriting, with demonstrated Financial Lines focus.
* Technical capability: Advanced understanding of cyber, data and technology risk themes (ransomware, privacy, third-party/outsourced providers, BI/CBI), Tech E&O liabilities, and how contract terms intersect with insurance.
* Commercial acumen: Proven negotiation results with insurers; comfort presenting to clients.
* Communication: Clear, succinct writing and presentation skills; ability to turn complexity into decisive client guidance.
