Position Summary
We are looking for a certified and/or experienced underground service locator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately identifying, marking, and documenting the location of underground utilities – including gas, electric, telecommunications, water, and sewer lines – to ensure accurate survey and planning and safe excavation/construction activities. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical skill with locating equipment, excellence in customer service and a commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
· Use electromagnetic locators and ground penetrating radar and available plans to identify and mark underground utilities in accordance with AS4588
· Read and interpret utility maps, site plans, and construction drawings
· Perform field inspections of proposed excavation sites to determine potential utility conflicts
· Communicate clearly and effectively with a broad range of client including civil construction workers, property owners, surveyors and project managers
· Follow all company, state, and federal safety procedures and regulations
Key Skills & Qualifications
· Must have a valid Australian driver's license
· Must have a valid Construction Industry White Card
· Experience using utility locating equipment
· Demonstrated experience in underground service locating with experience in civil construction, survey and/or hydro excavation considered advantageous
· Demonstrated experience using survey equipment also advantageous
· Applicants with Certloc certification will be highly regarded
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and utility plans
· Strong communication and customer service skills
Working Conditions
· Outdoor field work in various locations
· Frequent walking, standing, bending & lifting will be required
