Position Summary
A & A Patel Pty Ltd has a position available for the operation Transport Manager. The incumbent is accountable for the day to day management of the operations which include service quality, management of the contractor owner drivers, driver recruitment and training, and ensuring the company has the correct fleet configuration on the road to meet customer demand.
Major Responsibilities
To hire / lease extra vans to meet delivery schedules;
To ensure replacement vans are available when the operating vans has broken down;
Manage the day to day operations for 24 vans, including scheduling for repairs and maintenance;
Effectively plan the fleet operations saving fuel and determine the best van and drivers for each job;
Maintain a strong focus and adherence to OH&S requirements;
Keep in constant contact with drivers and adapt quickly and efficiently to any changes / requirements presented;
Interaction with external customers (the receivers) and internal customer (Australia Post);
Ensure compliance to daily service levels and KPI's;
Meet daily and week KPI measures and report on variances;
Allocate mentors to new drivers and ensure they get trained for the job as per the procedures of Australia Post;
Responsible for the schedulers of the drivers and their timesheets;
Prepare financial and operation reports for fortnightly meeting with the management;
Problem solving and propose new innovative solutions to continuously improve operations.
Qualifications
Experience in negotiation of leasing rates for vehicle hiring;
Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment with internal and external customers;
Experience of working and scheduling with a fleet of vans;
Good geographical knowledge of Melbourne.
