The Role
Our Coffs Harbour office has an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Structural Drafter to join our team. Working with professional and experienced teams on local, exciting and prestigious projects, you will be provided with extensive on-the-job training and mentoring. You will develop skills in the latest discipline specific Engineering technologies and gain vast experience as part of our Trainee Draftsperson Program.
Successful applicants will complete engineering studies at TAFE, usually 1 day a week, as part of an industry recognised traineeship. The other 4 days will be based in the office. Along with an industry-competitive salary, all TAFE fees will be covered for your studies.

What is Drafting and what does a Draftsperson do?
A Draftsperson produces Engineering documents. Our drawings are used to tell a story about a building, site preparation, installation procedures, materials to use and products to install, all with the aim of allowing a builder to do his job and a client's visions to come to life.

The Candidate
If you have recently completed your School Certificate or HSC, or you have started your Drafting course at TAFE and have an interest in pursuing a career in drafting, your future could be at Northrop You will have access to many opportunities within Northrop and with our support, we will help you to develop your career.
It is essential that you have demonstrated experience as a Sustainability Consultant in the built environment consulting field, including project management, building sustainability design and delivery of ESD projects.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Sustainability or Engineering.
ESD Strategy development and design thinking is essential.
Green Building Consulting and Certification Experience - As Built and Buildings are essential
NCC Section J Compliance DTS and JV3 Modelling is essential
Modelling Experience across GHGE, Daylight, NatHERS, BASIX, Passivehaus, Parametric and LCA. NABERS Energy and Water modelling would be desirable.
Strong working knowledge of other sustainability rating tools, including the WELL Standard and the Living Building Challenge (LBC) frameworks.
Experience with Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) using E-tool or equivalent software is desirable. IES/Design Builder experience is desirable.
Job Management Skills are essential: Project Planning, good level of communication and being able to articulate complex solutions.
Client Management and consulting experience is essential, being able to demonstrate good client side thinking.
Business development and proposals experience is essential: Proposal writing, client pursuits and nurturing.
As the successful candidate you will possess:
A passion for STEM subjects, particularly Technology and Engineering.
Computer literacy with a keen interest in technical drawing. Exposure to packages such as AutoCAD while not required, is highly desirable.
The ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
Enthusiasm along with a passion for the construction and engineering industry.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
