Customs House Full-time, fixed-term position until 18 December 2026 Base salary will be $64,329.50 full-time equivalent, plus 17% superannuation (Food and Beverage Grade 6) Based at the heart of Brisbane City, Customs House About This Opportunity We are seeking a motivated, reliable, customer focused Assistant Banquet Manager to support the Banquet Manager and deliver an exceptional level of hospitality service within Customs House, an iconic high-end venue in the heart of Brisbane city. Customs House is one of Brisbane’s premier events and heritage destinations. We offer a range of different spaces for our clients: boardrooms, meeting spaces, a ballroom and a restaurant. We are regarded as one of Brisbane’s most awarded function venues. Customs House caters for both corporate and private functions and is a spectacular venue for a wedding reception. The successful applicant will need to be highly organised with effective interpersonal skills and an ability to work under pressure. You will need to be a leader and a dedicated team member with a customer driven focus and a commitment to deliver the highest quality product and service. Staff are required to fulfil 38 hours per week across a seven-day roster including weekends and evenings. Key responsibilities will include: Hands on supervision, execution and preparation of functions and events in Customs House and externally, whilst maintaining excellent staff and patron care Assisting the Customs House Management team in its daily business operations Responsible for the maintenance of service and operational standards Liaising with Events, Kitchen and Restaurant, and anticipating requests, solving problems, site inspections and providing general information for visitors Ensuring venue security and locking of premises at end of the shift POS and EMS accounts, reports and maintenance Stocktaking and maintenance of bar levels, ordering of beverage, linen and dry store stock and ensuring adequate organisation of cellar, service and back of house areas Finalisation of client accounts and production of banquet reports, handling and supervision of cash floats About UQ As part of the UQ community, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the brightest minds, who have joined us from all over the world.
