The Opportunity

The Early Years Partnership team is looking for Supported Playgroup Officers to engage with families enrolled in the smalltalk supported playgroup program. This position supports families to develop parenting skills and confidence to improve the learning, development and wellbeing outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide casual relief cover to facilitate and support developmentally appropriate play experiences for children aged 0-5 years in a playgroup setting.
* Support families to engage in activities with their children, and role model appropriate parenting practices using evidence-based parenting programs, such as smalltalk.
* Engage and support families to build parents' confidence and skills and support the establishment of social networks.
* Work in conjunction with the Supported Playgroups team to facilitate program activities.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

* Diploma level qualification in early childhood, community services, education, health, social work or related field.
* Knowledge of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), including the Practice Principles and Learning Development Outcomes.
* Relevant experience working with families with young children, including those who are experiencing disadvantage
* An understanding of child development and play based learning in the context of the family environment and the playgroup setting.
* Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
* Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
