A NSW Government agency is seeking an experienced Network & Security Services Specialist to support enterprise network and security operations within a large-scale digital infrastructure environment.
This role is a backfill position to enable senior SMEs to focus on a major transformation program. It is ideal for a hands-on network security professional who can operate autonomously across BAU support, incident response, and project delivery.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of enterprise network services, while balancing operational support with project-based work.
The role requires strong Cisco networking expertise, firewall administration experience (FMC & FTD), and the ability to respond effectively to security alerts and incidents in a complex government environment.
You will collaborate across Digital and Business teams to ensure secure, compliant, and customer-focused service delivery aligned with government policies and frameworks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ensure high availability of network and security services, including monitoring and log integration
* Manage Cisco switching and routing environments
* Administer Cisco Firewalls (FMC & FTD)
* Respond to and triage security-related incidents and alerts
* Support root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
* Balance BAU operations with project deliverables
* Provide performance metrics and dashboards for network/security services
* Identify and escalate risks and issues to the functional lead
* Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors
* Ensure compliance with NSW Government policies, processes, and frameworks
ABOUT YOU
* 5+ years' experience in Network & Security Engineering roles
* Strong hands-on experience with Cisco switching & routing (mandatory)
* Strong experience with Cisco Firewalls (FMC & FTD mandatory)
* Proven experience in incident response and enterprise firewall environments
* Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

* Cisco Wireless
* Fortinet firewall and management stack
* Netscaler administration (F5 experience also considered)
