* Based at Western LLS regional office location (Cobar, Bourke, Hillston, Broken Hill or Buronga)
* Advisory & Technical Grade 6 | Salary from $113,574.00 plus super and leave loading




This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identify as being Aboriginal and be accepted in the community as such.

About the role

The Cultural Knowledge Broker, supported through the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust program, plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering innovative programs and policies in partnership with Aboriginal communities. By fostering strong collaboration, this role supports meaningful capacity building and creates opportunities for Aboriginal people across a broad range of land and community-focused areas.

We are looking for an individual who can:

* Develop and deliver community-based information and lead projects that increase the ability of Indigenous groups, rural landholders, community groups and partner organisations to manage regional land issues for cultural, environmental, production and biosecurity outcomes
* Collect and collate data, analyse information and provide accurate, appropriately balanced advice, reports and recommendations on cultural heritage, land management and sustainable agriculture
* Build strong relationships with local First Nations people, Elders and organisations, including on-Country engagement
* Build cultural competency and advocate for First Nations procurement and employment opportunities
* Project manage and report on activities ensuring the effective and timely delivery of LLS projects and Aboriginal Participation Plan outcomes
* Represent LLS at Aboriginal events and meetings, ensuring culturally safe practice and client satisfaction
* Facilitate the provision of natural resource management and agricultural productivity advice to Indigenous communities, land managers, stakeholders and clients consistent with the objectives of the LLS
* Interpret and apply relevant legislation and policy and make appropriate determinations and recommendations




About You

To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will have the following:

* Degree qualification in agricultural, environmental, natural resource management, biosecurity and emergency management and/or an equivalent level of industry knowledge and experience
* Demonstrated experience with project management, implementation, monitoring and reporting
* Communication skills and ability to use a range of computer software including Microsoft, databases and spreadsheets
* Ability to engage and form strong relationships with Aboriginal communities
* A current NSW Drivers Licence and the capacity and willingness to travel throughout the region as required
