Family Counsellor – Youth Trauma Service; ACT
About the Role
* Location: Lyneham – Youth Trauma Service; ACT
* Part-Time (4 days per week) | Permanent Position
* HPA Level 3 ($44.37 - $49.82) per hour+ Generous salary packaging benefits up to $18,550
The Family Counsellor is a senior clinician role providing specialist support to families with higher or more complex needs. Working closely with the Youth Trauma Service and Early Psychosis clinical teams, you will offer secondary consultation, brief interventions, structured skills-based work, and family therapy as required. Interventions may be delivered independently or jointly with another member of the treating team to ensure a coordinated, trauma-informed approach.
About the Program
The Youth Trauma Service ACT supports trauma-informed, community-based services for young people aged 13–17 who have experienced trauma and are at risk of mental ill-health. These initiatives aim to strengthen safety, improve coordination across the mental health system, and ensure young people receive tailored, developmentally appropriate support.
These services are grounded in trauma-informed care, evidence-based interventions, and integrated practice. They focus on empowering young people with choice and autonomy, while building a skilled workforce capable of recognising and responding to trauma. Together, these elements create a holistic, consistent, and responsive approach to recovery for young people and their families.

About you in the role
* Provide family therapy directly to young people and their families accessing the program.
* Provide time-limited, structured family therapy interventions.
* Provide family therapy to improve the dynamics at home to support young person’s mental health recovery
Essential requirements
* Qualifications in Psychology or Occupational therapy or Mental Health Nursing or Social Work with AHPRA membership or eligibility to AASW
* Training and experience in family therapy clinical practice within the mental health field.
* Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and function autonomously while being able to work in a multidisciplinary team effectively.
* Current Drivers Licence and willingness to attend home visits when required
