Business Intelligence Developer (Data)
Join a high-impact performance team at Randstad Australia. We are looking for an experienced Business Intelligence Developer to contribute to the development and enhancement of crucial data warehouse and reporting products for a large public sector organization in the education sector.

Our client is a large key public sector organisation focused on performance, policy, and planning within the education sector. The specific unit you will join is responsible for collecting, analysing, and reporting performance information for early childhood and school education, delivering essential Business Intelligence products to support departmental and government priorities.
Role
We are looking for a multi-skilled BI Developer to join the Performance Monitoring and Reporting Unit. You will be responsible for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the department’s data warehouse and reporting assets. You will design and develop fit‑for‑purpose data models that deliver critical information directly to users, building on the team's recent achievements and momentum in the BI space.
Key Tasks & Activities
- Collaborate with the business and team members to translate requirements into effective data models using SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio, and Azure DevOps.
- Conduct data model design, demonstrating extensive knowledge of data warehouse and ETL designs.
- Develop robust Quality Assurance checks for data integrity and lineage.
- Conduct performance analysis and undertake code optimisation.
- Perform unit and system testing, utilising Azure DevOps for deployments.
- Maintain and review technical documentation and the metadata repository.
- Proactively participate in team planning and communicate any risks or blockers to progress.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Solid, proven experience working with the Microsoft development stack, including SQL Server Management Studio and Visual Studio, for the creation of SSIS packages and SSAS tabular/multidimensional cubes.
- Expertise in advanced SQL, SSIS, and SSAS, including the ability to write DAX and MDX queries.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data warehouse architecture, data modelling, database, and ETL design.
- Highly developed analytical skills, particularly in transforming unstructured/semi‑structured data into relational tables.
- Experience in designing and adhering to a robust data testing regime.
- The ability to self‑manage and work autonomously.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills to present technical matters to diverse audiences.
Contract Information
- Working Hours: Standard 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm on a weekday).
