About the Role
Are you a seasoned lawyer looking for a challenging opportunity to utilize your skills and experience in insurance litigation? We have an exciting role available for a Senior Lawyer to join our Government Insurance and Risk Team.
In this position, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality legal advice and services to the State of Queensland and its agencies. Your expertise in managing complex insurance litigation, providing clear and well-reasoned written and verbal advice, and conducting civil proceedings will be invaluable to our team.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a broad range of insurance litigation across all courts and tribunals;
* Provide high-quality legal advice on personal injuries, public liability, and medical negligence;
* Conduct civil proceedings, draft pleadings and affidavits, and appear on interlocutory applications as required;
* Participate in Crown Law's high standards of client service, legal practice, and professional development.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Admission as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland;
* At least 2 years PAE (for PO3) and at least 4 years' PAE (for PO5) experience conducting (or assisting with) insurance litigation, including personal injuries and liability claims;
* Working knowledge of the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules, Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002, and Civil Liability Act 2003;
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage complex matters and client relationships;
* For PO5 roles: demonstrated capacity to manage more complex files with minimal supervision.
