The AI Installation Supervisor will oversee the end-to-end deployment of High-Performance Computing and AI infrastructure at customer sites. This role is critical in ensuring the physical installation, integration, and quality assurance of complex compute environments are executed according to engineering specifications, industry best practices, standards where applicable, and customer expectations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing onsite logistics, supervising field staff and subcontractors, verifying installation quality, and delivering detailed as‐built documentation to support customer signoff. This position requires hands‐on experience with data centre infrastructure, a deep understanding of installation standards, and strong leadership and communication skills. Along with datacentre technology skills, the candidate must be conversant with datacentre building management systems, such as liquid and air cooling, and power management.

Responsibilities / Requirements

* Extensive experience in large‐scale data centre, HPC, or AI infrastructure deployments. Deep understanding of installation into existing datacentres, and new builds including commissioning of site facilities (e.g. power and colling).
* Ensuring good working practices of staff, managing schedules and rotas, and site and employee health and safety when onsite. There will often be multiple organisations and teams working in parallel requiring careful coordination.
* Strong understanding of rack‐and‐stack procedures, structured cabling including cable management, power, cooling, and grounding standards.
* Experience leading field teams, subcontractors, or technical installation crews.
* Familiarity with quality assurance processes and documentation standards.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (rack elevations, network maps, cabling diagrams).
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage schedules, logistics, and task coordination across multiple teams.
* Knowledge of AI / HPC specific modular datacentres
* Strong knowledge of site health and safety and access procedures
* Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and customer interaction.
* Willingness to travel to customer sites for extended periods during installation phases.
* You will have excellent communication skills being able to manage communication with onsite personnel and upward into customer and WWT management

What we are looking for

We require experience of the following tasks / activities:

* Review project scope, design documents, rack elevations, and network diagrams.
* Review onsite floor load bearing and expected equipment load with design teams
* Attend coordination meetings with project stakeholders (customer, engineers, vendors, IT workforce teams).
* Provide good practice guidance, and contribute, based on experience to plan acceleration discussions with project teams
* Identify any regulatory check points for the project team, e.g SOC2 compliance, external audit.
* Highlight and manage site installation risks.
* Create detailed installation schedule (Gantt chart or similar).
* Conduct and execute site readiness assessment (power, cooling, space, access).
* Coordinate delivery logistics with vendors (racks, servers, switches, cabling).
* Ensure proper permits and site access authorisations are in place.
* Specify and specialist lifting equipment required
* Verify bill of materials (BOM) against delivered hardware and Inspect equipment for damage during transit.
* Tag and inventory each item (rack, server, switch, cable).
* Coordinate with logistics or receiving team on storage/pre‐staging.
* Oversee vendor and subcontractor activities (rack & stack, cable installation).
* Conduct daily kickoff and safety briefings.
* Maintain an onsite task log / installation tracker.
* Ensure work is performed in accordance with site safety standards.
* Supervise rack positioning, leveling, and bolting.
* Confirm installation of servers, switches, PDUs to correct locations per design.
* Monitor proper cable management (labeling, color coding, bend radius, airflow).
* Validate grounding and bonding according to electrical code and spec.
* Confirm power delivery to each rack/PDU (voltage, phase, amperage checks).
* Validate network uplinks, port configurations, and patching per network plan.
* Verify liquid cooling performance, management and leak detection
* Ensure support connectivity is available
* Ensure network connectivity is in place as required, notably between the AI infrastructure and Day two systems, including Building Management Systems to specification
* Perform link and port tests using loopback plugs and network tools.
* Capture screenshots or logs of successful switch and server connectivity.
* Review and sign off on all installed hardware against design documentation.
* Check for compliance with:
* Cable standards
* Rack layout and thermal airflow guidelines (front-to-back)
* Correct PDU installation, mounting and connectivity, EMC and grounding requirements
* Correct rack / enclosure installation (sides, doors, fan trays, power trays, manifolds
* Document any deviations or field adjustments with justification.
* Coordinate initial system power‐up with engineers.
* Monitor temperature, fan speeds, power draw during initial burn‐in tests.
* Log and report any failures or anomalies.
* Compile full as‐built documentation:
* Updated rack elevations and cable maps
* Final network port maps and IP assignments
* Photos of each rack (front/rear)
* Serial number lists (servers, switches, PDUs)
* Installation checklists and QA signoffs
* Include all compliance and validation evidence (logs, screenshots, test results).
* Review as‐built package with customer onsite or via presentation.
* Address any customer concerns or requests for clarification.
* Obtain formal signoff on installation completion and QA checklist.
* Provide contact for post‐install support or escalation path.
* Ensure removal of packaging, and unused materials.
* Conduct final site walkthrough with facilities or customer rep.
* Archive all documentation in project repository.
* Debrief with internal teams (lessons learned, improvement suggestions).
