The Head of Department - Student Engagement will provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in school.
This position is line‑managed by our Principal as part of the Student Wellbeing and Engagement Team, which includes a Guidance Officer, Head of Inclusion, Student Wellbeing Officer, Social Worker, Teacher Aide, Student Engagement, EPIC Teacher and Defence School Mentors.
Responsibilities Include
- Data analysis and forward planning (academic, effort and behaviour)
- Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary
- Communicate and work with parents, student wellbeing support team and external agencies to improve outcomes, student achievements and attendance
- Develop and implement community engagement strategies and programs with other organisations, local businesses and not‑for‑profit organisations
- Liaise with external agencies (for example, indigenous support agencies and child safety) to support new arrivals and their families through integrating them into the new environment and incorporate the holistic needs of new students including academic, social and emotional
