Primary objective
Provides high level advice on Honours and Awards to the Northern Territory Police Force (NTPF), as well as the coordination of
Honours and Awards events at the request of the Commissioner of Police.
Context statement
The Honours and Awards section of the Northern Territory Police Force is dedicated to recognising the exceptional efforts of our
first responders and support personnel. Honours, awards, and medals formally recognise individual achievements, reinforce
standards, and promote a culture of excellence.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Process correspondence through the generic inbox and initiate follow-up action to ensure deadlines are met.
2. Process nominations, memorandums, ministerial correspondences and internal broadcasts for distribution.
3. Process all recognition requirements for employees who are resigning or retiring from the organisation.
4. Maintain and update master guest lists, nomination forms, and existing documentation on NTPF Intranet/Internet websites.
5. Coordinate and manage the procurement of goods and services for event requirements such as medals, plaques, flags, framing
and engraving services and floral arrangements.
6. Monitor and maintain accurate records in Territory Records Manager (TRM) and other agency databases such as Assessment
Development and Personnel Training (ADAPT) and Personnel Information and Payroll System (PIPS).
7. Maintain stock control of all medals and awards to ensure a register of inventory is kept up to date, including the processing of
invoices related to the section. (NTG Pay)
8. Coordinate all aspects of Honours and Awards ceremonies and provide assistance to the Senior Protocol Officer for National
Police Remembrance Day.
9. Preparation of comprehensive briefings, including running sheets, scripts. speech notes, order of proceedings and ceremonial
programmes for each event and/or ceremony.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a range of tasks with competing priorities within a high pressure environment whilst
maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
2. Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills including well developed oral and written communication skills to communicate
effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
3. Experience in report collation, data entry and administrative procedures and systems, including high level competency in
Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and records management systems such as Content Manager (TRM).
4. Ability to work with limited supervision to set priorities, coordinate tasks and meet deadlines with a high level of attention to
detail in a client focused environment.
5. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of government procurement guidelines and finance procedures.
Desirable
1. Event management experience.
2. Knowledge and understanding of the Australian Honours System.
3. Knowledge and understanding on protocol-related event management advice.
4. Able to work outside of regular business hours when required and have a current NT Driver's licence.
