Bookkeeper Job Description
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. As a Bookkeeper, you will play a vital role in maintaining the financial records and accounts of small to medium-sized businesses. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting our clients to make informed decisions and achieve their financial goals.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Recording and processing daily financial transactions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
* Preparing and submitting Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other tax returns
* Generating financial reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
* Providing bookkeeping support and advice to clients, helping them to better understand their financial position
* Liaising with external parties such as accountants, auditors, and tax authorities as required
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software
* Assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes
Requirements:
* Minimum 2 years of experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role, preferably within a small to medium-sized business or accounting practice
* Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and Xero software
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
* Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work to deadlines
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with clients
* A problem-solving mindset and the ability to provide practical financial advice
* Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualifications (e.g., Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping)
